Meri Wells studied Visual Art and Theatre Design at the University of Wales. Since graduating she has worked as a freelance artist and Theatre Designer. Working mainly for companies in Wales, in both Welsh and English language, she works on an average of four to six shows a year, usually designing both set and costume.

During the last 15 years Meri has worked with many companies, including Theatr Powys, Coracle Theatr, Theatr Gorllewin Morgannwg, Theatr Clwyd, Arad Goch, Welsh National Opera, Slang Tree and tyhe award winning Mid Powys Youth Theatre. She has designed specially commissioned pieces for the National Eisteddfod of Wales and has designed for TV and film companies including Ffilmiau Bryngwyn, Opus and S4C.

In recent years Meri has also designed the Welsh National Opera's community production "Mis Bach Du - Black February". This was a specially commissioned opera to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the last invasion of Britain when Napoleon's troops landed an expeditionary force at Abergwaun (Fishguard) in West Wales.
